Concept study 01 · Living room
The Still House.
A study in softness, where a restrained palette makes space for the richness of everyday life.
The brief
Create a calm living space that feels welcoming rather than precious. A room for reading, conversation and stretching out at the end of the day.
Illustrative brief for a fictional project.
A little less noise.
A lot more feeling.
The room is organized around two simple anchors: a generous sofa and the long view through an arched window. A low, rounded table softens the geometry and keeps conversation open.
Rather than adding colour everywhere, we layer small differences in texture. Chalky plaster meets woven upholstery. Pale timber sits alongside an olive accent. Warmth comes from the relationship between materials.
Material notes
Texture does
the talking.
Choose natural finishes that become more interesting with use. Keep large surfaces quiet, then introduce contrast through a single cushion, a ceramic vessel or a piece of art you love.
The design principle
“A room feels complete when there is space for life to happen.”
An illustrative studio philosophy — not a client testimonial.
